Ebay #3

The 3rd installment of my ebaying spree. This is a mix of homemade and factory made.
Ready?

A delightful striped sun dress.I did not find a tag but zippers seem to appear in the older vintage clothes, followed by snaps then velcro.

I would call this an afternoon dress. it is a bit fancy for just running errands but not ball gown style either.

Among my own clothes I have home clothes and town clothes. Some things I won’t wear when shopping or such. This I would denote as a town dress.

Another one I would call an afternoon dress, I can see it at a ladies tea. Perhaps church.

Now I am going to introduce a new model. I got this one specifically to model things from the 60s-70s. I had friends at school with hair like this and it just strikes me as a good mod doll.

I think I had a dress like this as a girl!

Definitely a ball gown!

A flannel like nightie. The auction I got these clothes from listed them as Barbie, Tammy and clone clothes. I am guessing this might be a Tammy, she is just a tad bigger than Barbie. Plus this doll is a petite.

A pleather suit? What ever it is, it is ugly!

Groovy!

A knitted dress. In several of my GLH books, these are mentioned. Though I think the style might be a bit different.

Another school style dress.

My mom had clothes like these.

A corduroy dress or jumper.

I have seen things like this on old 70s tv shows.

These jump suits facinate me. I like the style, not the colors.

Another knitted or crocheted dress. A bit big on this doll but cute.

A summer nightie.

Gown or house dress? I can’t decide. It feels sort of robe like but is made as a dress.

This doll looks best in the orange dresses.

Finally a blouse for all my skirts!

I remember quilted pants!

An easter dress!

Another what I would call morning dress. At least it feels that way to me.

I love this thing. No clue what it is. It looks like a baby doll nightie set.

I love this one. Not really a nightie but a gown for lounging at home in the evenings.

So what do you think?
Any favorites?
More to come!

Ebay #2

OK first there were 2 yesterday I missed.

These are definitely party dresses!

OK now, ready for some vintage?

First my favorite real Barbie dress. Suburban shopper. This is the no hat one. The other is still unpacked! These shoes are some from my blue shoe collection. This dress does not fit this doll. She is… bustier than the old dolls. Once I unpack the vintage dolls I will model it on one of them.

First we have my red head in a maroon ensemble. It looks to me sort of western. It is so pretty!

Here we have a modern bikini babe modeling an older body suit, with skirt and jacket.

Next we have Blondie in a nightie and robe. This is the easiest of the batch to put on her!

Ok ready for some mind blowing stitchery????

First the petticoat. I used to wear these but mine never had snaps!

Ok, Dark blue. This one has a bit of tape marked Bette on it. I wonder if this was a dress for her, or if she made it…

Light blue. This one is signed, Janet L. Lein.

Purple gingham…This is marked Janet L. Lein What talent!

With bonnets

Wedding gown

A new petticoat…

Perfect in pink.

For cold days… I am sad it has such a big stain! Still, lovely.

A few odd bits I have no clue what to do with! I do have more of this pink silky stuff someplace.

Well what do you think? Isn’t this a trousseau to be the envy of any 18th or even 19th century bride?
What is your favorite? Stay tuned for more!

Ebay Bonanza part 1

A Change in Plans.

I know last time I said I was going to do a guy fashion show.
However … since then I have been shopping. Not just any shopping.
Vintage stuff on ebay shopping. I am doing a bit of selling too, not much but some.
I have found that if I bid late night, I can score some really cool deals.
I have scored more than I can write about too. At least in one sitting.
A few things, I got extras of. For instance. I LOVE the Suburban Shopper dress. It is one of my all time favorite real Barbie fashions. I don’t care about the hat or basket, I LOVE the dress. Well there were 2 running. I had been out bid EVERYTIME I tried for one. Figuring I would only get one, I bid on both. Well either everyone had already scored one, or they didn’t see these because both my first bids won!
I now have one with hat and one with out!

Most of the clothes are home made. I must say, they are much higher quality than any recent offering by Mattel.
Among the vintage dolls I have gotten, I have found 2 Sunset Malibu Barbies. I had one of these these as a child and she was one of my favorites. Actually I remember 2 Barbies out of my kidhood. This one and the Sweet 16 my mom got me for my 10th birthday. She had a stroke about a month later so that doll meant a lot to me. Before I got her, the Malibu or suntan Barbie as I called her, was my favorite. She liked to go camping in an orange and yellow pop up camper.

So to get this series going, here are some of the clothes I received, being modeled by various dolls.

This first batch of clothes are not vintage. They were made by a 95 year old lady. It seems Miss Louise felt girls didn’t want Barbie clothes anymore (and frankly with the offerings Mattel was setting out it was more unclothed than clothes.) So her grandchildren set out to prove her wrong. They go to yard sales and get material and she sews the dresses. I am ashamed to admit but I bought quite a lot of her items. I get a decent allowance, and lately most of it has gone into Barbie, or Bible class…
So here are my favorites from Miss Louise.
OK one thing I discovered about her gowns, they work best for the straight arm lasses.

First up, a princess! This blonde is in most of the dresses. She just looked better in them than the red head or brunettes.

Here she is in blue. This dress reminds me of Mary in LHIBW. When Mary got the blue dress to go with her blonde hair and blue eyes. No clue why but this doll looks like Mary.

White with blue trim. These gowns don’t look exactly like ball gowns, but maybe daily where from the 1800s.

Sweet and simple.

Ready for bed. This gown, if you have an under slip would be good for a spring or summer evening… it is see through though so I chose it as a nightie.
Now for some of the other dolls.

Pretty organdie (I don’t know why I think organdie when I see this one)

Same lass in a light day dress.

Now for some RED dresses! LOL

OK now for a couple of my favorites.

This last also reminded me of Laura and her black cashmere she wore to marry Almanzo.
I think that is all this time. If you wish to support Miss Louise the ebay seller id is debgponca

Now in one order, I will give you a peek. I not only received clothes, I got a bonus.

These are from what I have found, 1981 Ginny dolls by Sasson. Some how I think Vogue is involved but I haven’t done any in depth searching yet. i think maybe Voge made the dolls and Sasson made the clothes.
Stay tuned, lots of vintage coming up!
Hugs Y’all!

Howdy!

Here in my office I sit surrounded by dolls and totes of dolls and Bibles and Bible study books. It is a gorgeous spring like day… in February!

As I listen to hyms on you tube I sort through Bible study books to put into my class library at church. Such a pleasant day!

The books are sorted. Some will remain with me, most will go to church tonight. So now I am going to take pictures and play dolls for a while.

I have been on quite a buying soree lately.
Some new, some ebay some from a source that always has good stuff!

I found at Wal-Mart this lass, and fell instant,y head over heels in love with her. So of course she ha d to come home with me!

I named her Baylee, after a little girl I spend time with who reminds me of Shirley Temple.
OK her package looks easy to open so here goes.

Once again my trusty Harbor Freight knife is needed.

They also tagged her head to the form fitting plastic hood… WHY????

OK so I didn’t just buy 1 doll… nope… I bought her clothes too.

Want to try them on?

Here goes outfit #1.

I like what she came in but loved some of the newer clothes. I am glad to see them moving in a different direction with the clothing.

Up first is this cut tee with a simple skirt. I am not a huge Hello Kitty fan, but these clothes are cute!

This set has a new Barbie label too!

Isn’t she cute?

Next is a sweet “denim” jumper with white blouse. I loved this outfit in the package, but am not so crazy about it on. I think a tee would work better than this top. I love the set, just not as a set… This set also is not tagged. Even though the package was the same as the last one.

Then we come to the dress I LOVE. I actually wore this style a lot when I was in college. Just a simple sweet Maxi Dress.

She looks just Darling in it!

The set came with this bag and this necklace. I like the bag but not the necklace, it doesn’t fit the casualness of either outfit in the pack.

Next time I will do one of my new guys in some new Ken clothes!

Hugs Y’all!
