I am gonna tell you a story about 2 women. These women just did not understand how people are. Both women thought that just because they said it, others had to abide by it, deal with it and accept it. They expected their words to be accepted, never argued with or tested.
One day these women began messaging each other. They were picking the place where they were apart, being angry and mean spirited. Accusing the magistrate of snooping and spying and being dishonest. They said they didn’t want to be in the safe place anymore they disliked it so much.
One day they were talking while passing the magistrate's garden. They did not realize the magistrate was inside the garden and could hear clearly what they said.
They said again they wished to leave the place. The magistrate heard them. After a short time the magistrate called the women to them, and helped them pack. They were put outside the gate, and the gate was locked.
See said the women, how the magistrate snooped and found us out. A wise person said, if you do not wish the magistrate to know your thoughts, do not speak them outside the magistrate's garden.
The moral of this story is, do not reply to the email notices that you have a pm, cuz mel will not make you stay if you make clear you wish to leave. Mel does not waste her time snooping through folk’s pms, but she does READ HER OWN email!

I usually make tea by the pot. Not a starbuck fan, but do like Dunkin' Donuts Boston cream filled donut with a nice cup of earl grey.

All I will say is I found out at least 2 people are telling folks I snoop and read folk's pms. I do not know who they are, if I did they also would be gone, rumor mongering and lying is above and beyond site rules violations. I do not read anyones pm unless they forward them to me. For the record there is an option on vbulletin that would let me... if I activated it.
I was on a site where the owner did this and I find it unscrupulous and inappropriate. I refuse to activate that feature because i feel it would be dishonest to do so.
However if some one replies to the email notice that they have a message, it comes to ME. Here it is again: if you reply to the email notification (btw it says DO NOT REPLY) that you have a pm, I get a copy of it.
Here is how I read email. After it all comes in i go through and delete the spam (and there is usually a TON of it). Then I open the first in line of the emails i keep. I read and delete, when I delete it opens the next in line. I have no reason not to read email that comes to me, it is not as if the post office misdirected a letter to me that belongs to some one else. Email is sent to my email because some one replied to something I sent them.
In the case of pms, it is MY email the site uses so it comes to me. Now if something comes to me from the site, I read it, that is how we track new members and errors on site and so on.
Expecting me to not read my own email is ludicrous yet one of the women in the above tale expects just that.
So i figured i would have some fun with it. Far as I am concerned the issue is closed, but it was too funny not to write about.:nature-smiley-014:

I am in the lost group too. I have spent since last night trying to figure it out but I think I am going to continue to be lost until it is in "Kari speak". But I will gladly sit with my hot chocolate with everyone else.

This all seems so junior high. It's like whining about the principal by writing on the bathroom wall! If you want to leave, leave. If you have a problem with the site, either take it to Mel like an adult or keep it to yourself.

Well if I replied to the e-mail instead of going to my pm box, and those e-mails go straight to you, then I'd expect you to read it! It really is lacking common sense to expect you to do otherwise..........

Here it is in "Karri speak"....if you get an email in your email box and it says "new private message from Prairie Homemaker" and you opne that email and read the pm (it is copied in your email as well as in your pm box) and then you reply to the email, directly from your email of the pm, then the reply goes directly to Mel. It says in the email notice of new pm at PH NOT to reply to that email, but to instead go to the link provided to read and respond to the pm. If you don't pay attention to that and you respond to the pm from your email, it goes to Mel. Some ladies were having some pm discussions and replied to a few pm's via their email box and instead of sending it to just the other person, it went to Mel. When Mel let them know about it, they immediately accused her of snooping and reading private PM's, which was NOT the case, because they went to Mel's email, not to the PM box where they should have went. Does that make more sense?

wow thanks for making that clear Faith, i didn't know that. not that i have anything to hide but it does make sense since it is Mels forum sending out the email notification, the reply to the email would go back to Mel. i didn't knowe you could reply to an email notification of a PM? I guess you would have to open it but the contents of the PM are not visible through just the notification in your "inbox"

Actually the contents of the PM are visible in your email notification. Next time you get one, take the time to read thru the entire notification. You will see the content of the pm in there (so you never actually have to go to your pm box, unless ofcourse, you want to reply)

Is it? i guess i never really looked closely at them like i do a regular post, i know they look somewhat different and i usually go to the site and reply, it does away with the annoying pop up when you have a new PM, anyone else get those? i have to click cancel and then go to PM to find it.

11-10-2007, 06:14 PM
If you click accept on the pop-ups the pms open in another window for you. Makes it nice, IMO, that way I don't lose my spot where I am reading on PH, to see a pm.

Ok...it took me awhile to catch on, I think I got it.
What I don't get is, if I (or whoever) wants to go, it isn't like this is a communist country where you have to defect to get gone - so why didn't they just leave?
While I don't always agree with what goes on here, or how it is handled, I make the choice to stay (or to leave). AND...as administrator, naturally Mel would have the ability to read our PM's. If someone doesn't understand that, it isn't Mel or anyone elses problem. They should have been smart enough to have their discussions COMPLETELY offsite if they wanted maximum privacy - or at least pay attention to where they reply their messages to...
I'll just bring my coffee over :-)

What makes me sad is women professing Christ yet who end up going off and downright lying to others rather than listening to the truth and then doing just what they accuse others of doing - gossiping - spreading lies about someone. I guess it's in situations like this that the true nature of someone comes out for all to see. I'm glad that that kind of influence is no longer here. Thank you Mel!

Yes Chai tea latte and there butter scones i would love to make them like starbucks but thats about once a month to costly all the time
boy it all leads back to what my grammy taught me "if you don't have anything nice to say, dont say anything at all"
I'll take a cuppa what ever is being served, although, dare i ask for decaf? it is after 6pm. I tend to twitch all night if i drink regular.

To say these things when you delete the only people who can bring some light and truth to the situation. Once you deleted all of us, their was no one to lay out the facts. Just you, Mel to twist the story to what you want others to believe! Yes, you do need prayer, because I have never seen someone who lies, and decieves as much as you have over the past few weeks. You and your merry band of 3 or 4 moderators, and they know who they are are the biggest gossips on this board! You told others that you banned that they sent you a copy of their messages, you did not send me an email explaning such a thing, because you knew that I have message boards, I know you were snooping into others PM's and you just got caught!!! There are things you would have never known had you not been snooping! What an invasion of privacy. One thing is correct, eventually it will all come out in the wash, and others will see your true colors. I think a lot of them have since you and a couple of your moderators egged on the gossip thread. In the mean time, I will pray for you, because you need it for sure.
BTW, I am at Starbucks now, and I am wondering why I did not come here to began with, it is much warmer, and the owners are much nicer, and do not stir the rumor pot or lie to their customers.

What is sad, Ana, is that you are acting in the same exact way you are accusing Mel of acting. When someone replies to an e-mail notification, it goes to the site owner. You say you have many boards - yet you do not understand that. It makes me wonder about these other boards. Your "friend" responded to the PM notification which happened to include the past PMs imbedded in it (when you hit reply, it does this) and that is what the owner of the site got. I do not see why you just are not getting this.
And I have to say that the stalking is not very Christ-like. If you feel that we are such an unChrisitan group, then just walk away. Don't try to hunt Mel down to "say your peace". You have your own boards - why do you feel the need to continue this??

The bottom line here is that those of us who weren't there can't really completely know what has happened between Mel and Ana/Ana's friend. What we CAN do, however, is look at the behavior that is being displayed now, and in the past.
Mel, I'm really sorry you are going through all this still. Seems you can't get away from those who would like to attack your character. *hugs*

Wow, and so very Christlike in attitude. I find it interesting that those who go to elsewhere can not seem to stay away from PH? I wonder, is this stalking? Or trolling?
