Busy bodies.
What does the Bible tell us about busy bodies? Well for one, not to be one! It equates being a busy body with being a gossip. It says a busy body gads about from house to house. I like that word gads, to me it means they go from place to place telling people what they think, whether they are asked or not.
Busy bodies seem to think they have the market on right. What you say is not ok until they say it is. Know it alls, are in this category. They like to scare people with dire consequences and then say things like, but it’s not MY decision or do what you want to, but don’t say I didn’t warn you. Some times they make veiled threats of calling the authorities. It matters not if they are in your state, they just want to feel in control of your emotions so they put it out there in veiled ways. “If I knew some one did this (even stupid stuff that is in no way illegal, they just don’t like it) I would call”… name an agency, CPS, Police, FBI anyone they think will make you fear your own judgment. They often tend to hint that you need mental help as well, because you are not doing things the way they need to be done, IE their way.
They seem to forget that God is the real know it all, literally, and that following Him is the actual goal of our lives. What really maddens me beyond words is when they accuse and berate folks and threaten those who see things differently than they do. I have seen it over and over. Some one does something with their kids they don’t agree with, and suddenly the word abuse is raised. GET A GRIP!
What abuse is NOT
Abuse is not swatting them on the backside for refusing to obey; it is not putting toys away and expecting them to ask you to get them out. It is not mom expecting them to put said toys away either. It is not getting your house decluttered so things are easy to maintain and neat and clean. It is not feeding them good wholesome foods keeping garbage foods to a minimum or non existent. Kids do not need nor are they entitled to cookies and fruit juice on demand. Water is a perfectly acceptable beverage. Calcium can be obtained by sources other than a cow. Protein can be achieved with legumes and such as well.
What abuse IS
Abuse is bruising your child. Telling them they are stupid. Telling them you wish they had never been born, or that they should have been put in an orphan asylum because that is where they belong. Not taking them to the dr when they need it, not just for normal stuff that can be treated at home, but for serious stuff, pneumonia, broken bones, and such like. Many common things can and should be treated at home with out antibiotics, which do kill the immune system as well as illnesses. Abuse is not protecting your children from a society that does not value life.
Infants are not manipulators. Christ said to be a Christian; we need the Faith of a child. Abuse damages a child’s Faith. Raising them strictly so the social mores have little or no influence on them, is NOT abuse.
People, who make it a habit to interfere because they do not agree with another’s choices, are busybodies. I do not care if they attend worship services 15 times a week, the fruit of the Spirit is not in them, and unless we produce those fruit, we are not Christian people we are dead in spirit. So think about that if you ever feel led to yell at another, especially online, because you do not think they know how to live their life and raise their children. Before you tell a sister online that decluttering her home and getting it down to the necessities is child abuse, or not giving the children cows milk (BTW, Proverbs tells us that goats will feed and clothe us, not cows) is abuse, reread what the Bible says about busybodies and gossips. (1 Peter 4, 2 Corinthians 12) .
FYI, this has nothing to do with any discussions past or present on PH, this came about from an email discussion I have had with a victim of busybodies and it makes me so angry I could spit. Just so you all understand (not PH but the malicious nags) such things, are libel and the person making such statements can be sued for them. All blogs track Ips. Ips lead to your home internet provider who can be forced to turn your information over to the courts, should a person wish to pursue action. The net is not as anonymous as many think it is.
Please remember, a true lady, a Christian one at that has no place making inflammatory statements and charges. We are to judge by the fruit of a person’s life, not from our own perspective, that because their fruit is bananas and ours is oranges that their fruit is wrong. Rethink the fruit you present being mean and hateful to anyone. The mud you are throwing often comes back and lands on you.
