I finally finished reading a set, well almost, the next book is due out in September this year.
It is called the heart of Texas series, by Debbie Macomber
I do not know if she is a Christian author or not. I got the set, this is so lame... because I saw book 3 at Sam's and the cover looked pretty...
OK so I didn't realize it was book 3 (each book has 2 books in it... make sense?) so once I got it home and discovered it was the 3rd in the set... I searched on ebay for the others...
I am kind of obsessive that way, if i am setting out to collect something, I want the whole set...this is especially true of book series.

So this set is kind of cool, it is not for kids, but it is not x-rated either, maybe a PG13 I think.
Now I like the story line, the relationship development, the under story. I did not like the long descriptions of kisses, which I skipped. She also seems to repeat a lot from one book to the next, characters get bioed over and over and such.

It was an interesting diversion, I love the characters, she develops them nicely. I definitely plan to spring for the nest book when it comes out, just to complete the set you know... :party-smiley-004:

MINOR ANNOYANCES
this is an aside not part of the book review. I noticed a couple weeks ago we had a lot of "bots" trying to join. Bots are programs engineered to join sites and collect information.
Don't worry we have safeguards in place so they can not join. The odd thing was these "bots" were getting in. Not only that, they were trying to set things in their profiles. Now "bots" can not do that. I ended up banning several email servers because the "bots" kept generating new email addresses. My guess is it is a person or persons (i also drastically banned the isps they were coming from) who want to mess with our site.
Since banning the email servers, I have had 3 people email wanting to know why their email had been banned. However no more bots have joined in.
Beloved says it is just some one messing with me, oh well, it is a minor annoyance.
hugs y'all

Ha ha! I'm TOTALLY like that! I can't stand to start a book, movie or tv show from the middle...I NEED to start from the beginning or I can't wrap my mind around what's going on! LOL

I had part of that series but felt it was not something God would want me to be reading so I threw them out.

I'll have to give those a look, Mel!

As far as the bots... it might/could be the trolls trying their hand again, it's been about a year??

If you enjoyed her Texas Series you might want to try her Blossom Street Series. Especially if you like knitting. :)

I have one of her books........too funny I liked the cover too! "Knit Together" I have not read it yet though.

But it is on my summer reading list along with a ton of Beverly Lewis books that I think I have mixed up 3 "series" , so I really don't know which books belong to which series and it just seems like too much brain power to figure it out now.

Mel, I appreciate your diligence in keeping the site safe.
Hugs, Ella

I actually have read some of Ms Macombers books and enjoyed them. They do tend to re-visit the same things at times but it is just to help carry it over into the next book in case you missed the previous one.

Dear Mel,
I absolutely love Debbie Macomber.
She has another series of books called The Shop on Blossom Street,A Good Yarn, and Back On Blossom Street.
These are wonderful stories and mild,no descriptions of intimacies.
I actually had the opportunity to have one of my books of hers signed by her.
She is a Christian and has written a non-fiction book called Knit Together about God's plan for us.
Try some of her others,I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Hugs and God blessed,
Helen(grammea)
