View Full Version : I have been thinking.

I plan to keep myself from posting or replying to political threads.
There are a several reasons for this.

1)The reasoning on both sides is flawed. Each is saying the other has it wrong. The actual truth is somewhere in the middle.

2) Researching this is taking time away from things that are more important to my life. Yes the questions are important. We do need to know that who ever is elected has good judgment. Both are just men, though some would have us believe otherwise. Both have made mistakes. One has said so, admitted it got it out of the way and moved on. The other has… made excuses.

3)My goal is to live as closely as possible a Bible centered life. Therefore any research I do has to be on the issues God puts forth in HIS word. Guess what, if this country began living the Christian values it was founded on, national debt goes away. Unemployment decreases. Social programs are left for the truly needy, widows and orphans, just as God says.

My reading list will be shorter. No more factcheck, no more politipundit, daily kos, no more googling who said what when how and where. If folks want more research done, they now need to do it on their own. When I hear something, I will instead pray on it. I will pray for wisdom and guidance. I will pray that God guide this country.

I have already listed why I can not biblically support Mr. Obama. So far no one has given me evidence that the Bible is wrong on the issues. I know many in the modern world feel it is archaic not really with it for the times. However if you study it you can see parallels between Israel and the USA. When Israel began to falter in their obedience to God, they got bad leaders due to their bad choices. When they began to see the errors and correct them God appointed them good leaders to help them recover. God always had good men (or women) waiting to lead, but left it to the populace to realize they needed them.

This election is just the same. We have one man, an understated Christian, follower of Christ. Then we have another who looks good on the surface, but really looking at him you see he is not what he claims. He directly opposes God. Directly denies what God says is true. Yet people are willing to over look this and elect him anyway. That is just sad, and if the silent majority does not awaken from their complacency this country is in for an unnecessarily harder time. Things will be hard for us because of sins we have committed, but they will be worse if we elect a leader, who will have influence for decades to come, that refuses to trust GOD and OBEY GOD.

Mel:

I find myself in a very similar position. I agree very much that there are three sides in this situation. And the middle is the truth. :)

Thanks for the reminder to focus on Him and what He says... the fact is He knows the outcome, and all our worry and bluster amounts to naught. He is in control.

I, too, steer clear of the political threads. I just don't have the time or the energy for all the blustering that goes on. I agree, that the "truth" is out there somewhere, but neither candidate is telling us what it is.
My hope is that when the election is over, all of us here on PH can come together to pray for our new president, whoever that may be,
and for our country...I believe that tough times lay ahead for all of us, no matter who our leader is.

Well said Clementine. I feel the same way.

I haven't steered clear of the threads completely, but I found that when I didn't, I ended up frustrated.

Thanks for the reminder, Mel. :)

We are in the last days and things are bound to get worse before Jesus comes. We just need to turn to him for strength.

Amen! I already know who I'm supposed to vote for so I don't bother reading the bull in the middle. ;)
