Both of these have given me a huge boost in my joy department.
The first is a book, recommended to me by my friend Dani. I love Dani, she is a light, bright spot in my life. We are very different though. When she suggested this book, I figured I would give it a test and I am so glad I did!
The book is Julia's Hope by Leisha Kelly. It is Miss Kelly's 1st book, and #1 in a series. I loved it so much and even identified with one of the main characters. In fact, the 2 main characters sound an awful lot like my Beloved and I. This book made such an impact that I ordered the 2nd off ebay the night I finished the first.
This is the story of Julia and Samuel, after the depression took all their earthy goods, and most of Samuels self worth, and how God, through a woman named Emma, began to heal their marriage and their lives. Give it a try, it is a fantastic book. I am counting the days (4 more) until book 2 should arrive!
The 2nd thing, and I do not remember where I heard of this. I remember vague references here and there but no direct thing. Is Leslie Sansone's Walk away the pounds. Ladies if you need exercise, this is your ticket. On her home page (Leslie Sansone (http://www.walkathome.com/) ) is even a one mile walk video you can begin with!
I know my weight was at about 218, and I do not know that I have lost any. What I do know is that in the 2 weeks I have been plugging away, I have managed to get to where I walk the whole 1st mile (I have the 3 mile dvd) with no pain. I had a lot of pain at first, in fact it took me a month of on and off work to get to the point I could even do the mile. My goal was to do it 3 days a week, well today I hit that goal already for this week! I wake up and even if I do not feel like doing much, am achy and so on (most days) I have discovered if I just do it, I feel so much better. I even have energy to do dishes after supper, before I petered out by 3 pm and barely managed to get dinner on the table, forget doing dishes. My pain is down, my attitude is better, I feel like I am walking straighter. I plan to begin monitoring my bp daily after work too to see if I have changed it.
There is no excuse now, she has the 1 mile (one mile is better than none!) right on her site. There are no long movements so you can do it right there at your pc! Even if you can not do the whole mile (I keep forgetting to time it, but i think it takes 20 minutes) thereis no reason you can not do some of it. Its free and its there, let's go!
Saturday I plan to begin the 2 mile, and I can not wait!:dance3:
