Ladies, I wish to share a concern with you

As you all know there is much turmoil in the government now days.

After praying on it I wish to share this with you.

There are 2 pieces of legislation that I want you all to pray on. Both could harm PH.

I know this sounds far fetched, and I pray that it is. However both of these bills lay the ground work that could shut us down.

One is the hate crimes bill. I have tried reading it, but there are so many twists and turns, I get lost in it.

From what I have gotten out of it, the ultimate, albeit hopefully unlikely, gist is, if you tell some one something and they go out and harm some one, they can in turn blame you.
Why would this hurt PH? Because we teach God's word. So if we teach against adultery, and calla Lee CottonPatch finds her husband cheating, and hurts him, she can point at us and say well they said...

Yes this is far fetched and God is in control, which is why I want us to go to Him over it.

The other is the net neutrality bill. This would ultimately put all isps out of business making the government the ONLY source of internet. Which in turn gives them the power to tell sites what they can and can not say and do.

Far fetched? Possibly. However the only way word got out of Iran about the botched elections and brutality there, was the illegal internet.

Again God is in control, and If He wills it He can stop this.

I am generally not a panicky person. However nothing I have found information wise on either of these bills is reassuring.

I do not ask you to pray to stop them, though that is MY wish, I do ask you to pray God's will be done in these matters, and for our country.

I wish I could say that your fears are unfounded. They aren't, though. It does lay the groundwork for some very scary things in the future. Even if not done by the current folks in power... the ability that it allows is disconcerting.

The U.S. House of representatives recently passed a "Hate Crimes" bill. It has been sent to the senate for approval. The president has stated already that he will sign the bill.

Proponents of "hate crime" laws say that they are needed to protect minorites from acts of violence. However, criminal acts are already illegal . Hate crime laws add penalties to a crimal sentence if the person had a "Hateful intent" or "thought crime" toward the victim.

There is so much going on in the legislature that is difficult for the average person to deciper. I think they purposefully structure the wording of these pieces of legisilature to make it that much more unnerving to wrap your brain around what they are saying.

I have been praying, along with many that I know for God to intervene in these matters. God is Faithful and with every temptation also makes a way of escape.

As for me and my house we are praying! Thank you Mel for bringing up this very important matter.

They've been discussing the federalization of the internet on Fox News today, and I'm shocked in a way and not surprised in another. Prayers are needed for sure.

Oh boy...this is getting out of hand. Don't they know they work for us, not the other way around?!

I really hope that come next year, people are fed up enough to clean house and do something about this nonsense.
